Sharks? In the middle of my suburban bedroom? Now that’s just bad luck.

It automatically gets -1 star because I think movies that portray sharks as inherently evil does majorly contribute to the reduction of shark populations and immediate hatred of them from most people even though they’re literally just like any other wild animal.
It is stupidly fun, though. The thought of a hurricane of that magnitude actually happening is terrifyingly real (if we don’t, you know, start taking global warming and the increasing natural disasters seriously), but the idea that it would bring groups of sharks that just, can roam around attacking people is pretty silly.
This was just a less comedic Sharknado, and I did genuinely enjoy it. The Thousand Mile birth scene was arguably my favorite.
Visually, the film is great. The opening shots of the hurricane coming in, the scenes of people that are trapped in their vehicles, the fun shots of sharks swimming through houses. Absolutely great.
Story wise though, it falls flat. There’s always this sense that something bigger is going to happen, but you never see that resolution. Couple that with some of the less than par acting and it’s just kind of disappointing.
